As part of the "MobiliTec" show, Sensor-Technik Wiedemann GmbH (STW) is presenting a pioneering electric drive for commercial vehicles, buses and mobile machinery. STW’s permanent magnet synchronous machine powerMELA® C, with 140 kW continuous power, is combined with a three-speed dual-clutch transmission to meet a wide range of drive requirements. The combination drive is lightweight, uniquely compact and operates in all modes at the optimal efficiency, with high starting torque and top end speed. Shifting without interruption of traction fits well to the characteristics of the electric drive, and enhances the driving performance and comfort. The drive solution has been realised by STW in cooperation with the Canadian transmission specialists Kinetic Drive Solutions, and has already proven itself in practice.
The powerMELA® product family from Sensor-Technik Wiedemann GmbH (STW) expands further. The established powerMELA® drive with 140 kW continuous power is now joined by the smaller 80 kW version. At Bauma 2013 the new 80 kW machine can be seen in action: it’s used to accelerate and brake the rotating platform of a model of a diesel electric hybrid excavator, in a novel interactive display. The recuperated brake energy is stored in a Lithium Ion battery, and made available for the acceleration phase of the operating cycle. The model demonstrates how the efficiency of a machine can be significantly increased, and thereby the fuel consumption reduced.
STW demonstrates the economic and environmental use of hybrid technology in the working functions of a construction machine – with components that are ready and available today
The Kaufbeuren company Sensor-Technik Wiedemann (STW) was recently honored with the ‘Supplier of the Year’ award from one of the world’s leading tractor manufacturers, AGCO/Fendt of Marktoberdorf.
