CANopen is an open „Controller Area Network“ protocol for process control systems. The CAN protocol is defined under ISO-11898 and is used for serial communication.
The ESX® control units are compatible with every CANopen system, and function problem-free as system master.
Additionally, several other products (DIOS/DIOM, CAN based sensors) are designed to be used as nodes in a CANopen network.
Programming libraries are available for “Codesys“ and C to manage the CANopen communication.
